Bio
This is my new journal. I broke missmai_chan. So welcome! If you can cope with this technological invalid, welcome.

I live in Newcastle with my husband, a canary (Tut), four rats (Piccolo, Squiggle, Harrison and Pudding) and two mischievous cats (Starbuck and Kipper). I'm a jack of many trades (journalism, childcare, tuition). I write. Generally I prefer tea to coffee and Angelina Jolie to Brad Pitt but not every day.

Anything else you'd like to know? Well knock and I'll add you, as this is friends only.

"Because I know the biggest crime
Is just to throw up your hands
And say "This has nothing to do with me,
I just want to live as comfortably as I can." (Ani Difranco)

"To a man whose mind is free there is something even more intolerable in the sufferings of animals than in the sufferings of man. For with the latter it is at least admitted that suffering is evil and that the man who causes it is a criminal. But thousands of animals are uselessly butchered every day without a shadow of remorse. If any man were to refer to it, he would be thought ridiculous. And that is the unpardonable crime."
-Romain Rolland

"The impression that infra-human mammals more or less confine themselves to heterosexual activities is a distortion of the fact which appears to have originated in a man-made philosophy, rather than in specific observations of mammalian behavior. Biologists and psychologists who have accepted the doctrine that the only natural function of sex is reproduction, have simply ignored the existence of sexual activity which is not reproductive." - Alfred Kinsey

"The mildest criticism of religion is also the most radical and the most devastating one. Religion is man-made. Even the men who made it cannot agree on what their prophets or redeemers or gurus actually said or did." - Christopher Hitchens
